Spiritual Poetry with Yehoshua November & Pessie Horowitz

Yehoshua November is the author of God's Optimism, which won the MSR Poetry Book Award and was named a finalist for the 2010 L.A. Times Poetry Book of the Year, Autumn House Poetry Prize, and Tampa Review Prize for Poetry. His work has appeared in The Sun Magazine, Virginia Quarterly Review, Prairie Schooner, and on NPR's The Writer's Almanac.  His poems have also been featured in a number of Jewish publications, including The Forward, Midstream, Moment, and Jewish ActionThe Jewish Week named November one of the 36 "Best and Brightest Innovators and Visionaries" under 36 years of age, adding,  "November's poems are uncommonly good...[He] captures not only emotion but also those religious yearnings, questions and attempts to reach out to God that are largely unspoken." The winner of the Bernice Slote Award and the London School of Jewish Studies Poetry Contest, November teaches writing at Rutgers University and Touro College.
Sherry (Pessie) Horowitz was raised in the Jewish-Hasidic section of Boro Park, in Brooklyn, NY. She holds an MFA in Poetry from New England College where she was the recipient of the Joel Oppenheimer Award. Her poems, interviews and book reviews have been published or are forthcoming in magazines such as Crab Orchard Review, Poetry International/Web del Sol Review, Jewish Action, Innisfree, Poems Niederngasse, Prism: A Holocaust Journal, Midstream, OVS Magazine, and Quest for God: An Anthology (UK). Most recently her work has been selected as a winner of the London School of Jewish Studies Poetry Contest, named a finalist in the Outermost Poetry Contest, and nominated for a Pushcart Prize.
