AREA BUSINESSES LOOK FORWARD TO SUPER BOWL XLVIII

The Conference/The Party Focuses on Economic Impact in Metro NY/NJ

Jersey City, NJ (Monday, September 30, 2013) - The Conference/The Party (www.theconferencetheparty.com), a unique series of events, will “kick off” with a business conference on Tuesday, October 22 geared toward helping area businesses position themselves to leverage Super Bowl XLVIII, which is projected to generate some $550 million in regional economic activity. The Conference will take place at Maritime Parc, 84 Audrey Zapp Drive, Liberty State Park, Jersey City, NJ 07305.

The event will convene more than 400 leaders from New Jersey and New York City metro area businesses, government, community groups, tourism and civic organizations. All will be looking to capitalize on the influx of over 230,000 spectators for Super Bowl XLVIII.

“There is no doubt that the Super Bowl will have a significant impact on the region, enhancing its position as a global destination,” said Wayne Hasenbalg, president & chief executive officer, New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority (NJSEA).

The NJSEA is serving as the lead state government agency, working with the NY/NJ Super Bowl Host Committee, to coordinate the State of New Jersey’s role in planning and fulfilling its responsibilities for activities associated with the Super Bowl.

According to Radia Funna, founder of the brand positioning firm Build n Blaze, creator of The Conference/The Party and member of both the Bergen and Hudson Counties’ Super Bowl Huddle Zone Committees; the event will feature speakers and workshops that provide information and education to help businesses prepare and gain insights on how to turn tourists into immediate and long-term customers; as well as provide opportunities for attendees to network and engage in broader discussions on how hosting an event like the Super Bowl can impact the region, enhance its position as a global destination and translate into doing business beyond its borders.

Soledad O’Brien, award-winning journalist, founder of the Soledad O'Brien and Brad Raymond Starfish Foundation and a keynote speaker at The Conference noted, “The Super Bowl can be leveraged by businesses to examine how we are impacting our communities. As one of the speakers, I hope to share with them the incredible potential it holds to expand their reach with young people who are looking for opportunities to be educated and join the workforce.”

The Soledad O'Brien and Brad Raymond Starfish Foundation provides young women with a bridge between obstacles and opportunity, by giving them the resources to overcome barriers and reach their highest potential.

Additional noteworthy speakers include: Jim McGreevey, former governor of New Jersey and executive director of Jersey City Employment and Training Commission; Tracye McDaniel, president and chief executive officer of Choose New Jersey; Wayne Hasenbalg, president and chief executive officer of New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority; and business leaders from the designated impact Huddle Zones, as well as experts in social media, global exports, customer service and economic development.

Attendees to The Conference will be invited to attend The Party - a networking forum and pep rally - taking place just before the big event on Friday, January 24, 2014, at 7:00 PM, at the Park Avenue Club, Florham Park, NJ.
