Arrests Made in Teaneck High School Bathroom Fire

Fire was reported Tuesday afternoon

Three 15-year-old boys have been charged in an arson fire at  yesterday, police said Wednesday morning.

All three were charged with aggravated arson and failure to report a fire, said Detective Capt. Glenn O’Reilly. 

The fire broke out in a first floor boys' bathroom around 2 p.m. Tuesday and forced the evacuation of the school, authorities said. There were no serious injuries. Police did not say what motivated the alleged arson.

 were on the scene in two minutes and knocked down the fire, officials said. 

"The first floor hallway was full of acrid smoke," Fire Chief Anthony Verley said in a news release.

The high school call came as fire crews were already responding to a reported house fire, which eventually turned out to be an equipment problem, Verley said. While working at the bathroom fire, Teaneck and mutual aid crews were also called to an alarm at Glenpointe to deal with a defective heating unit.
