Charges in Bergen County Underage Drinking Sweep

Three underage bar patrons were arrested by detectives from the Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control at the  last Thursday evening during an enforcement sweep throughout Bergen County, a release from the state Attorney General’s office said.

According to the release, ABC detectives arrested Olivia Conti, 20, Kaitlyn Koepplinger, 19, and Samantha Mostafa, 18, all of Bergenfield, at approximately 10:30 p.m. on April 12.

The trio was charged with presenting fake identification cards and underage drinking, the release said.

The bartender, Stacy Cantelmo, 37, of New Milford, was issued a summons for serving alcohol to underage persons, the release said. The charge of selling alcohol to underage patrons is a disorderly persons offense which carries penalties including a fine of at least $500. 

“The liquor licenses of establishments involved in last week’s enforcement efforts will be reviewed by ABC for possible administrative charges,” the release said. “Those charges could result in the suspension of the bar’s alcoholic beverage license.”

The owners of the Main Street Grille & Tavern could not be reached for comment. 

Nearby, Brijmohan Sharma, 51, of Jersey City, was issued a summons April 12 after ABC detectives saw a "youthful male" buy a bottle of bourbon from him at Portland Wines and Liquors in Bergenfield, the agency said. 

"Sharma did not ask for identification. ABC personnel confronted the male and determined that he was 17 years old. The teen was turned over to his parents and a juvenile petition will be field," the release said.
