Freight Train Collides With Truck in Ridgefield Park

A CSX freight train hauling stuffed olives collided with a tractor-trailer truck at a railroad crossing in Ridgefield Park Friday morning, according to reports.

The crash happened as the truck crossed the tracks in an industrial area near Bergen Turnpike and Main Street, MyFoxNY.com reported. The impact knocked the big rig’s trailer on its side, but missed the cab.

There were no immediate reports of any serious injuries.

Earlier this week, a Leonia woman escaped injury when her car was swiped by a freight train at a crossing in Englewood, NorthJersey.com reported.

This accident occurred at a grade crossing. Teaneck has no grade crossings, thankfully, but our population is not ready to respond quickly in case of a derailing, collision, fire or leak of hazardous/flammable materials. Many Teaneck homes and businesses are very close (less than 500 ft) from the tracks.

So that's what's in those large, black tanker cars; olives?

John: No, not olive oil. At best, ethanol which burns with an invisible flame. At worse, well you don't wanna know.

Art, the article clearly stated the train was hauling stuffed olives.
