Hackensack Man Critically Injured in Teaneck Brawl

Man taken into custody after officers found a knife, police say

Two men were stabbed in a fight outside a Teaneck bar early Sunday, leaving one person critically injured, authorities said Monday.

The brawl erupted around 3 a.m. as a township police officer was checking a large crowd outside Vinny O’s, at Ayers Court and Palisade Avenue, police said. The crowd scattered as officers arrived and police soon found a 26-year-old Hackensack man bleeding heavily from a slash to his arm.

Emergency responders brought the man to Hackensack University Medical Center, where he was listed in critical but stable condition Sunday afternoon, according to Teaneck Detective Lt. Andrew McGurr.

Another man believed to have been wounded in the melee showed up at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson later on Sunday morning with a stab wound to his back, McGurr said. The man reported he was stabbed in Teaneck. His condition, age and hometown were not immediately available.

Police arrested 41-year-old Damon Moye at the scene after he was found carrying a knife, McGurr said. Moye, of West New York, was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and obstruction before being released on a summons.
