Leonia Man Accused of Dragging FDU Security Officer With Car

22-year-old faces aggravated assault charge after allegedly refusing to move his car from a fire zone.

A Leonia man faces an aggravated assault charge for dragging a Fairleigh Dickinson University security officer about 75 feet with his car after being caught illegally parked, according to Teaneck police.

Khaled Assubaiai, 22, was parked in a fire zone at the University’s Teaneck campus when the public safety officer told him to move Dec. 10 shortly before 3 p.m., police reported. Assubaiai allegedly first refused to leave.

The unidentified FDU officer was dragged with Assubaiai’s car, but not critically hurt, officials said.

Assubaiai later posted bail and was also issued a motor vehicle summons, police added. He could not be reached for comment Tuesday night.

Additional information was not immediately released.
