Arrest Made in Teaneck Hit-and-Run Crash

Firefighters cut man from wrecked car, authorities say.

A New York man was arrested Tuesday afternoon, shortly after he took off from a crash that left another man hospitalized, according to police.

The 21-year-old motorist, whose name was not immediately released, will be charged with leaving the scene of an accident with injury, authorities said. Officers found him in Englewood following the two car crash at Teaneck Road and Westervelt Place.

Firefighters had to cut the other driver, a 48-year-old man, from his wrecked car, police said. The Teaneck Volunteer Ambulance Corps brought him to Hackensack University Medical Center, but the extent of his injuries were not immediately known.

I hope they have ALREADY tested the kid (the longer it waits, the less of a chance for anything to be remaining in his system!).....thats most definately why he left the scene....sad to say!! I hope they charge him with EVERYTHING HE IS GUILTY OF!!! I also hope that the other party whom it hit is ok....that my prayers go out to him and his family......sad.

The accident happened on Teaneck Road at the front door of Holy Name Hospital but the TVAC brought him to Hackensack Hospital. Why on earth???

Not such a mystery, Al. It would make sense, since Holy Name does not have a trauma center and Hackensack Medical Center does.
