More Than 1,000 Without Power in Teaneck

UPDATE: Power has been restored in Teaneck, according to a PSE&G spokeswoman. The outage was caused by a downed wire on Route 4. 

A large power outage hit Teaneck shortly before noon Friday, knocking out service to 1,183 customers in the township, according to PSE&G.


The cause of the outage was not immediately clear. Residents were reporting electricity out near the Fairleigh Dickinson University campus and along sections of Teaneck Road.

According to PSE&G's website, service was expected to be restored as early as 3:30 p.m. Friday. The company did not immediately return a call for comment.
