Teaneck Emergency Responders Log Busy Thanksgiving

Woman hit by truck on Teaneck Road, man hurt in Route 4 crash

Teaneck first responders were kept busy Thanksgiving, including handling a slew of emergency medical calls and a rollover crash on Route 4, officials said.

Township firefighters, police and Teaneck Volunteer Ambulance Corps crews rushed to Route 4 westbound, near Queen Anne Road, around 5 p.m. after a car rolled several times on the highway, authorities said. The 19-year-old driver was treated for abrasions from apparently tumbling out as the car rolled, but he was not critically hurt.

In another Thanksgiving day emergency, a 47-year-old woman was hit by a truck on Teaneck Road and Hillside Avenue, according to a TVAC spokesman. Additional details were not immediately available, but the woman was expected to recover.

Three of the ambulance calls came in at the same time, the spokesman said. The 17 calls handled by TVAC on Thanksgiving ranged from elderly residents who fell, an assault, and reports of illnesses. TVAC also provided an ambulance to cover the annual Teaneck High School vs. Hackensack football game.
