A 20-year-old Teaneck man has been charged with sexually assaulting a girl he met at an Englewood park and attacking a city police officer, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office said Tuesday.
Savon A. Dow allegedly assaulted the 12-year-old girl, who authorities described as an acquaintance, Sunday.
The girl first reported the alleged abuse to staff at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, where Dow brought her to be treated for an asthma attack, First Assistant Prosecutor John L. Higgins said in a statement. Hospital staffers alerted police.
Under questioning at the hospital, Dow gave a false name and “physically assaulted” a police officer, the prosecutor said.
He faces charges including one count of aggravated sexual assault, assault on a police officer and resisting arrest. He was ordered held on $350,000 bail at the Bergen County Jail.
Dow was already free on $50,000 bail and awaiting trial after Teaneck police charged him with the armed robbery of three teens in 2011, records show.
