Two Bergen County men will be sentenced in January for the 2010 Watchung home burglary that led to a high-speed chase through the Watchung Reservation and a head-on collision with a police cruiser.
Jullian Oree, 32, of Teaneck, was convicted Friday of third-degree burglary, second-degree theft and third-degree criminal mischief. Oree was acquitted on a fourth-degree resisting arrest charge.
Co-defendant Anthony Bostick, 43, of Teaneck, pleaded guilty on Oct. 23 to third-degree burglary, second-degree theft, third-degree criminal mischief and fourth-degree resisting arrest.
Bostick could face more than 31 years in state prison and Oree could receive a maximum sentence of 20 years at the January sentencing.
According to Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey Soriano, a Watchung resident returned to find his home burglarized on Nov. 23, 2010. A responding officer spotted a Dodge Charger parked in a neighboring driveway that immediately sped away, Soriano said.
A high-speed chase ensued through the Watchung Reservation until the Charger spun out when it entered a parking lot, Soriano said. The car then rammed a police cruiser head-on before the occupants got out and ran away, Soriano said.
A Union County K9 discovered Bostick hiding in a bed of leaves in the reservation near the accident scene and Oree was found walking on Interstate 78 by a state trooper, Soriano said.
