Teaneck Celebrates National Night Out [VIDEO]

Teaneck police hosted a town-wide celebration Tuesday at Votee Park

Teaneck residents flocked to Votee Park Tuesday night for train rides, a helicopter landing, free food and more fun in celebration of National Night Out.

Teaneck was one of more than 15,000 communities across the country to participate in the 30th annual National Night Out, which is a nationwide effort to strengthen relationships between police officers and the communities they serve as well as enhance crime prevention.

"The police and the community are really one," said Sgt. Scott Tesser, head of the community policing squad which organized the event. "This is just a fun event to bring the two groups together."

The event's highlights include train rides, a bungee trampoline, a medical helicopter landing, a military police armored M1117 vehicle, an inflatable slide and obstacle course and a special visit from both Darth Vader and Spiderman.

"It's wonderful and I hope they have these events in the future," Teaneck resident Crystal Pressley said.
