Casino Mogul Donates Another $500K to Support Shmuley Boteach's Campaign

Adelsons have given more than $1 million to the Englewood rabbi, report says.

Casino magnate Sheldon Adelson and his wife have donated another $500,000 in support of Englewood Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, who is running for congress in the new 9th district, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The couple has now donated more than $1 million to the Republican rabbi’s congressional bid, NJ.com reported.  Boteach, author of ‘Kosher Sex’ and a former spiritual advisor to Michael Jackson, is running against Democrat Bill Pascrell in what the WSJ.com report called an “overwhelmingly Democratic” district.

The boost came to Patriot Prosperity PAC, a super PAC supporting Boteach, sources told the newspaper.

The two debated topics ranging from Israel’s security to tax policy Sunday in Tenafly. Pascrell, a former Paterson mayor, defeated fellow Democrat Steve Rothman in a bitter primary battle for the redrawn district.

The Adelsons have donated $20 million to Newt Gingrich’s primary bid and about $10 million to Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, according to the report.
