Councilwoman To Attend Celebration With Michelle Obama

First Lady's event to thank local officials for support of "Let's Move" program

Teaneck Councilwoman Lizette Parker will be among local officials thanked by First Lady Michelle Obama for efforts to combat childhood obesity at an event Wednesday in Washington, according to a report.

Parker was a driving force behind Teaneck’s involvement with the First Lady’s “Let’s Move” program, NorthJersey.com reported Tuesday night. The councilwoman said she received late word that she would be attending the celebration to meet Obama.

The “Let’s Move” initiative was launched in 2010 and includes programs to introduce healthy food options in schools, more physical activity and nutritional labeling.
