Ex-Congressman Could Battle Garrett in 2014, Report Says

Andrew Maguire, a Ridgewood native, is moving back to the village to potentially take on Rep. Scott Garrett (R-5th).

A former Bergen County politico and Ridgewood native is considering taking on Rep. Scott Garrett for the 5th District seat in 2014, according to The Record's Charles Stile.

Stile reported Saturday that Andrew Maguire, who was a Democratic congressman in the 1970s, is in talks with Bergen County Democrat Committee Chairman Lou Stellato to square off with the Tea Party darling.

First elected to the House in 1975, Maguire was ousted from his Congressional seat by Ridgewood's Marge Roukema in 1980. He's moving back to his hometown of Ridgewood (RHS Class of 1956) from Maryland in March, according to Stile.
