Passaic County Freeholder Terry Duffy ended his 5th District Congressional bid against Republican Rep. Scott Garrett Monday.
"Although I believe that this is a winnable race and Scott Garrett is vulnerable, a divisive primary is not in the best interest of the Democratic Party," Duffy said in a statement published on politickernj.com, which first reported the news.
Duffy said he would campaign for Rep. Bill Pascrell, who is facing Rep. Steve Rothman in a race for the . Teaneck, once represented by Rothman, was split by redistricting and a large section of town now falls in the Republican-leaning 5th.
Teaneck , and LaRouche Democrat Diane Sare, of Hackensack, have all said they would seek Garrett's seat.
Castle, however, submitted his paperwork too late for the Bergen County Democratic Committee's Thursday night nominating convention, party Chairman Louis Stellato said in a report on northjersey.com. Gussen submitted his paperwork on time.
Castle has won endorsements from (D-Englewood) at an event at .
The primary election will be held June 5.
