Wilson's last day of work was Thursday with his retirement taking effect on Sept. 1.

Police Chief Robert Wilson announced his retirement earlier this month after three decades of service in Teaneck.

Wilson's retirement takes effect Sept. 1, but he began Thursday using accrued leave.

I am shocked that Chief Wilson is retiring. Thought he was too young for that but 30+ years is enough. His tenure as Chief has not been marred by internal problems as far as I know. I wish him well and also hope that Deputy Chief Carney follows in his footsteps.
