Teaneck Council Meeting Cancelled

A town budget meeting is currently scheduled for Thursday at 7 p.m. and the next full council meeting is Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 7 p.m.

Teaneck's town clerk announced Tuesday that a council meeting scheduled for that evening would be cancelled due to inclimate weather.

The meeting has not been rescheduled, but a town budget meeting is currently on the calendar for Thursday at 7 p.m. in council chambers.

The next scheduled council meeting is booked for Feb. 4 at 7 p.m.

Teaneck public schools were one of a handful that didn't cancel classes or call for an early dismissal, but the district said parents could pick up their children at 12:30 p.m. without students incurring an attendance penalty.

Please come to the next budget meeting on Thursday. It will make clear why our "tax-cutting" Council has to raise taxes and probably cut services yet again. They do this pretty regularly and I am tired of it. The Council controls a ~$70 milllion dollar budget. They really need to hear from us. Fill the Council Chamber! Hmm, maybe we should hold budget meetings at the Rodda Center or, better yet, outdoors at the depot? The Council refuses to televise the budget hearings because our lone video volunteer has to work for his living. After decades of volunteering, maybe they should pay him! Maybe he should run for Council!

For the record, after some pressure from the public at the first budget meeting, the following two budget meetings were televised and the videos are online. Presumably, the remaining budget meetings will be televised.
