Teaneck To Sell Street Signs

UPDATE: The town's public auction scheduled for Thursday Nov. 7 has been rescheduled to Friday Nov. 8, the township announced. Click for full details on the town website. 

"Due to this change, the street signs that will be purchased during the auction will be available for pick up starting Tuesday November 12th, 2013. We apologize for any inconvenience," a township online alert said. 

Dozens of old street signs from around Teaneck will be on sale starting this week, officials announced.

The town launched a project to replace its green street signs with new, easier to see blue signs in 2011. On Thursday, the public will be able to buy old signs for $5 cash during a public auction at the Municipal Building parking lot at 1 p.m.

Buyers will be given a receipt and can pick up the signs Nov. 8 through Nov. 27 at the Department of Public Works garage. Signs are available Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the River Road facility.

Anyone who wants a sign, but can’t make the auction can still purchase remaining signs at the DPW complex until Nov. 27, according to the township. Signs are sold as-is, with no refunds.
