Teaneck Waives Sandy-Related Permit Fees

Permit fees for repairs related to Hurricane Sandy have been waived, according to the township.

Permitting fees have been waived for repairs "directly related" to Hurricane Sandy and the storm's aftermath, the township said Tuesday. 

"Permit fees will be waived upon verification that the work indicated on the application is related to damage suffered during the storm," a statement from the township manager's office said. 

Repairs can be verified as storm-related through the following, according to the township:

  • Copy of the property owner’s insurance claim form.
  • The property was included on a storm damage list compiled by the Teaneck Police Department, Fire Department, Building Department, or Department of Public Works (DPW).
  • Property owners with currently unreported damage (not on one of the lists) can request that a Building Department inspector visit the property to verify the type and scope of damage and be included on the list of affected properties.
