The following item was submitted by Sheetal Ranjan, a Benjamin Franklin Middle School parent:

held its annual science fair exhibition on May 22.

Students from 7th and 8th grade work on the projects for about two months wherein they have to come up with a scientific proposal, do the experiment, collect data and create a display.

The projects are then displayed at the Science Fair event. This year, the 7th grade winners are Thaalank Ranjan (from Mr Arevalo's class) and Umar (from Mr Hickey's class) for their project titled "No Fracking Way".

In this project, they simulated a vertical and horizontal drill and found that horizontal drills using the fracking procedure caused more damage than vertical drills.
