Hernandez Powers Teaneck to 82-52 Jamboree Win

Senior swingman Joel Hernandez banked 31 points in the Highwayman's County victory over Mahwah this weekend

Defending Bergen County Jamboree champion Teaneck muscled their way into the quarterfinals as senior swingman Joel Hernandez scored a game-high 31 points to lead the Highwaymen in an 82-52 victory over Mahwah.

Hernandez, who is being heavily recruited by D-1 schools like Hofstra, St. Joseph’s, Robert Morris, Quinnipiac and LIU, provided Teaneck with an early lead by attacking the basket from 20-feet out. The 6-foot-3 senior connected on six treys in the first three quarters.

Half of his three-pointers came in the third period alone as part of his 18 point run including turning a transition put-back into a three-point play for a 70-37 lead heading into the final quarter.
