GWB Lane Closures Expected to Cause Major Delays

Two New Jersey-bound upper level lanes of the George Washington Bridge have been closed for emergency repair work and are likely to remain shut until Thursday morning, the Port Authority said.

Officials announced the closures at the start of the Wednesday evening rush and warned of “significant delays” for motorists leaving Manhattan. The closures were not expected to impact New York-bound traffic, the agency said.

“Motorists traveling westbound to New Jersey should consider alternate routes such as the Lincoln or Holland tunnels, or use the lower level of the George Washington Bridge,” a Port Authority statement said.
