Route 4 Westbound to Close Overnight Near GWB

Traffic to detour through Teaneck beginning Friday night

The westbound lanes of Route 4 will be closed overnight through this weekend as crews continue work to replace a deteriorated highway bridge deck over Flat Rock Brook in Englewood, state officials said Thursday.

Route 4 westbound from the George Washington Bridge will be closed from 9 p.m. through 10 a.m. on Friday and Saturday as the $1.5 million project continues.

The following detours will be in place, according to the state Department of Transportation:

  • Traffic from the George Washington Bridge will follow the detour using I-95 westbound to Exit 70, Frank W. Burr Boulevard in Teaneck, to Degraw Avenue westbound to Teaneck Road northbound to Route 4.
  • Local traffic will be detoured from Route 4 at Jones Road to Van Nostrand Avenue to allow access to local roadways in Englewood.
  • Traffic heading to destinations further west coming from the George Washington Bridge will be detoured using I-95 westbound to I-80 westbound to Route 17 northbound to Route 4 westbound.
