School Board Seats Uncontested, Emergency Seminar This Week

Board of Education Election


Voters on Tuesday will select their picks for three seats on the Teaneck Board of Education.


Incumbent Sebastian Rodriguez and Shelley Worrell are seeking another term while former board member David Diuguid, who lost reelection in November, is looking to return to the board.

Margot Embree Fisher, an incumbent, initially sought to run again but has since dropped her re-election bid.

Emergency Preparedness Seminar


The Teaneck Police Department’s Community Policing Squad along with the town’s emergency management coordinator will host a free public forum to educate residents about emergency preparedness Thursday at 7 p.m.


The seminar will be held at the police department’s roll call room at 900 Teaneck Road.  


“All Teaneck residents are encouraged to attend and learn about the essentials of emergency preparedness,” the department said.


‘Read To A Dog’ at Teaneck Library


The Teaneck Public Library will host its “read to a dog” program for local youth on Monday at 6:30 p.m. See full details from the library below:


"Children can sign up to read a book or books of their choice to a therapy dog "one-on-one" for 15 minutes. Registration for kids in 1st grade and up begins on 9/30/13. Program dates are 10/7, 10/9, 10/21, 10/23, 11/4, 11/6, 11/18, 11/20, 12/2, and 12/4 all starting at 6:30 p.m. Please contact the Children's Department at 201-837-4171 ext.3 for details. Teaneck residents are given priority. Non-residents are placed on a waiting list and contacted if space becomes available. If you are unable to make your "appointment" please give 24 hours notice. Children are asked to please come on time with their books ready, or early so that they have time to pick out their books."


Health Care Act Forum


Teaneck will host a forum on the Affordable Care Act Thursday at the Richard Rodda Center from 7 to 9 p.m. Click here for more information.
