The Teaneck Police Department is a 99-member department that includes a detective bureau, juvenile bureau, community…More policing bureau, services bureau and traffic bureau. In addition to police services, the department also serves as the central 911 dispatch center for the township. Emergency calls for fire, police and ambulances are often routed to the police dispatch center.
The department's detective bureau includes a computer investigations and technology unit that is available to discuss the risks children and teens can face online.
Officers from the community policing unit work to maintain strong partnerships between the community and law enforcement. Community policing bureau officers manage the Junior Police Academy, National Night Out, Neighborhood Watch, D.A.R.E and G.R.E.A.T. programs and are available to meet with residents and community groups.
Specially trained members of the juvenile bureau are also available to meet with families and community groups to discuss drugs, gangs and answer questions about the Juvenile Justice system.
The department's headquarters building, at 909 Teaneck Road, is a relatively new facility built in 1995 to replace the department's aging offices.
