Car ended up in marshy area off I-95, state police say.
A woman from Fort Lee and her 4-year-old son escaped injury after the car she was driving careened off an I-95 ramp in Teaneck, leaving it partially submerged in a marshy area, state police said. The 65-year-old woman's Subaru Forester crashed through a fence and landed in Overpeck Creek off the highway's northbound lanes around 5 p.m., according to State Police Sgt. Adam Grossman. Two Leonia police officers, Frank Rocco and Michael Jennings, went into the water and brought the mother and child to safety, police reported. A 24-year-old township man allegedly fled the scene after hitting a pole in Bogota.
Bogota police charged a 24-year-old Teaneck man after officers traced a trail of fuel from a hit-and-run crash to the man's home early Sunday, northjersey.com reported. Kenneth Shaw allegedly hit a pole at East Fort Lee Road and Palisade Avenue around 3 a.m., but fled the scene, the report said. Officers followed the leaking fuel to Beech Street in Teaneck where Shaw's car was found parked outside his home. Police said Shaw's blood alcohol level came in at 0.18, above the legal limit of 0.08 percent, according to the report. A trucker escaped serious injury when the tractor-trailer he was driving overturned on the ramp to I-80 westbound from I-95 in Teaneck Monday night, authorities said. Teaneck firefighters were at the scene around 9:45 p.m., where the truck was resting on its side across the roadway. Police blocked the westbound ramp, but there were no major traffic delays, according to the state transportation department. Teaneck emergency responders called to three vehicle crash near Belle Avenue.
Authorities have cleared a three-vehicle crash on Route 4 West that sent one car off the highway near Belle Avenue in Teaneck late Monday morning. Police reported multiple people injured in the crash. None of the injuries were considered serious. Two ambulances from the Teaneck Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded, along with police and township firefighters. Traffic was delayed in both directions near Belle Avenue as of 11:30 a.m., the state transportation department reported. Two lanes were blocked, but have since been reopened.

Teaneck firefighters extricated a man from a mangled car after a single-vehicle crash on Route 4 east Saturday morning. Officials said the car's lone occupant suffered serious injuries, but was alert and conscious when he was pulled from the wreck, west of the Garrison Avenue bridge. The Teaneck Volunteer Ambulance Corps brought the unidentified driver to a local hospital. The car he was in went off the highway and crashed into the woods around 9 a.m. His condition was not immediately available. Bergen County Police said they were completing a report on the crash and would release more details later.

One person sustained minor injuries when the car they were in crashed into an office building on Teaneck Road in a two-car accident Thursday afternoon, authorities said. The car that struck the office, across from Holy Name Medical Center, narrowly missed another vehicle before hitting the building. A passenger was taken to Holy Name following the crash. The roadway was open, but traffic was delayed around 3:30 p.m.

Four people treated for minor injuries and 22-year-old woman charged after Route 4 crash late Sunday, according to county police.
A drunk driver turned herself in to county police hours after she fled the scene of an accident on Route 4 that left four people injured late Sunday, authorities said. Police were called to the crash, near Queen Anne Road, around 11 p.m. and found a 2008 Honda Civic with heavy damage facing westbound in the eastbound lanes, according to Bergen County Police Lt. James Giblin. The second vehicle, a 2012 Chrysler minivan, was found nearby. Two people in the minivan suffered minor injuries and were taken to Englewood hospital, while two passengers in the Honda were also treated for minor injuries at Holy Name Medical Center. All westbound lanes blocked at Queen Anne Road.
An accident on Route 4 westbound in Teaneck led to major rush hour delays Friday. The crash appeared to involve multiple vehicles near the Queen Anne Road exit. The Teaneck Volunteer Ambulance Corps had two ambulances at the scene. Police blocked all westbound lanes of traffic as of around 6 p.m. Additional details were not immediately available.

A truck hit a utility pole on Fort Lee Road, near Teaneck Road, Friday afternoon. A small section of the road was blocked at Teaneck Road. The accident did not cause any major outages, a worker at the scene said. The nearby Dairy Queen was also not impacted. Public Service Electric and Gas was at the scene, but it was not yet clear when the road would reopen. A company spokesperson did not immediately return a call.

One person was taken to the hospital after the SUV they were in struck a tree then hit a house on Edgewood Avenue Thursday afternoon, authorities said. The driver was apparently trying to make a u-turn, but didn’t realize the car was in drive when the single-vehicle crash occurred, police said. The Teaneck Volunteer Ambulance Corps brought a back seat passenger to be checked at Holy Name Medical Center for complaints of pain.
