The family of a 69-year-old Palisades Park woman found stabbed to death in her burning home has offered a $25,000 reward to help solve the more than three year old slaying, authorities said this week. Emergency crews found Dolores Alliotts dead after they responded to a fire at her home early April 28, 2010, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office. Investigators determined the house was set ablaze to cover up the killing. A 50-year-old Teaneck resident is accused of taking money from an elderly woman for whom he'd obtained power of attorney, according to a Bergen County Prosecutor's Office statement.
A Teaneck man is accused of financially exploiting an elderly woman and close friend of his mother's who had been under her care, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli announced Wednesday. Prosecutors allege Patrick Reynolds, 50, took approximately $122,000 from the victim's bank accounts for personal use between July 2011 and July 2012, after gaining power of attorney for the victim while she recovered from an illness under his mother's care. The victim's nursing home bills, property taxes and other daily expenditures were not made during the year Reynolds held power of attorney, Molinelli said in a statement. More than 160 schools across Bergen County slated for security reviews, prosecutor says.
Officials are set to inspect more than 160 Bergen County schools in an expanded security initiative formed after the Newtown elementary school massacre, the county prosecutor announced Monday. Under a newly formed county task force, police chiefs in towns that requested the safety reviews will designate a police liaison to receive training from the prosecutor’s office and work with school officials to develop a security plan, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said. “This task force system will create a permanent security environment whereby local schools will have a greater access to information and assistance in their efforts to keep our schools safe,” Molinelli said in a statement. Man assaulted teen in Cresskill, prosecutors allege
A 23-year-old Teaneck man has been charged with sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in Cresskill, prosecutors said Monday. Eduardo Garcia is accused of assaulting the teenage "female acquaintance" within the last two months, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said in a statement. Garcia was charged Thursday with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child after an investigation by Cresskill police and prosecutor's Special Victims Unit, authorities said. Two men charged last year in series of arson and bias attacks on Bergen County synagogues have been indicted in connection with the firebombings, authorities said Friday. The 30-count indictment charges Anthony M. Graziano of Lodi, a 2010 graduate of Hasbrouck Heights High School, and Aakash A. Dalal of New Brunswick, formerly of Lodi, with fire bombings, arson and bias related incidents which occured between Dec. 11, 2011 and Jan. 11, 2012 in Paramus, Rutherford, Maywood and Hackensack. The indictment includes nine counts for the attempted murder of Rabbi Neil Schumann and his family, and the associated fire bombing of the Temple Beth El Synagogue in Rutherford. Authorities say 34-year-old township man assaulted female acquaintance in Teaneck.
A 34-year-old Teaneck man was charged last week with sexually assaulting a woman at his State Street apartment, authorities said Tuesday. Sidney Jackson Jr. assaulted the woman, described as an acquaintance, on Feb. 13, according to a statement from Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli. The victim alerted authorities after the attack and a joint investigation by Teaneck detectives and the prosecutor's Special Victims Unit led to the arrest Friday in Teaneck, the prosecutor said. Jackson Jr. faces one count of sexual assault. He was being held on $150,000 bail with no ten percent option ahead of a Wednesday morning arraignment, according to jail records. A month-long investigation has led to the arrest of three Teaneck men in the November gunpoint robbery of a Lodi gas station, the prosecutor’s office announced today. Jean Barthelemy, 21, pulled a handgun on the Essex Street BP Station clerk while two accomplices waited outside in a gateway car around 4 a.m. Nov. 13, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said. Barthelemy forced the worker to open the register and stole about $800 in cash. He also swiped a pack of Newport cigarettes on the way out before fleeing in 20-year-old Daniel Margulise’s car, Molinelli said. Authorities raid Union Street home, say they've recover highly volatile bomb-making chemical and assault rifles.
A New York doctor who was active in the Occupy Wall Street movement of 2011 was charged Saturday with possessing a large quantity of chemicals used in bomb-making, hours after authorities conducted a raid on the Ridgewood house in which he lived, officials said. Roberto Rivera, 60, a medical doctor, was charged with recklessly creating a risk of widespread injury or damage after FBI agents and members of the Bergen County bomb squad found precursor chemicals used in the making of explosives, Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli said in a release Saturday afternoon. Englewood Police Chief Arthur O’Keefe will speak at a press conference Wednesday afternoon about an initiative related to drug distribution. The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office released a brief statement saying officials will “announce a major initiative encompassing narcotics distribution” in the Englewood-area. First of all, that's a good question...where was this woman's family, especially her daughter. I know that what the prosecutors are alleging is false. They should have real evidence before charging someone or alleging. And people need to know, or at least try to find out the truth, before they start judging. That's all I have to say.... more ›
