Police have stepped up patrols and are asking residents to report anything suspicious after an increase in burglaries over Rosh Hashanah and other religious holidays, Chief Robert Wilson said Thursday. The break-ins have been centered in the township's western section, Wilson said. Houses were mostly hit during the early evening hours when residents were not home. Police say they are investigating links to similar break-ins in the area.
Five smash and grab commercial burglaries occurred in Leonia early Sunday morning, authorities said. According to Lt. As Teaneck police responded, Officer Spence Osaigbovo noticed a man and woman leaving the area in a van, McGurr said. Osaigbovo thought the pair looked nervous when seeing police and stopped the van, with backup from Officer…
