The massive American Dream mall in the Meadowlands will not be ready in time for the 2014 Super Bowl being held at nearby MetLIfe Stadium, WYNC.org reported. According to the report, sources said the project "won't be ready" in time despite Governor Christie's claim in 2010 that the mall, once called Xanadu, would be open for the game. American Dream was missing from a list of Super Bowl events announced last week by the Christie Administration. NJ.com reported one possible cause for the latest delay could be a lawsuit filed by the Giants and Jets seeking to keep the mall closed on game days. Construction began in 2004, but was halted in 2009 before current owner Triple Five took over the troubled project. An indoor ice rink, water …

A celebration of the Talmud expected to draw nearly 100,000 people to MetLife Stadium could cause major traffic delays Wednesday, the state transportation department said. Traffic is expected to build in the afternoon and last through the night as attendees travel for the 7 p.m. event, according to the transportation department. Lanes in the area normally closed for construction will be kept open on Routes 3, 120 and 17 until at least 1 a.m. Thursday. Organizers of Siyum HaShas 2012 have called the sold-out event “the largest celebration of Jewish learning in the last 2,000 years.” Attendees will celebrate the completion of the 2,711 page Talmud, a book of Jewish laws and traditions. EAST RUTHERFORD -- A Brooklyn man was in critical condition Monday after he was beaten by a group of men in the parking lot of MetLife Stadium a day earlier, NJ.com reported. The attack occured following an international soccer 'friendly' between Mexico and Wales. It left Alfredo Lopez, 37, in critical condition at Hackensack University Medical Center, NJ.com reported. His brother was also attacked, but not seriously injured. A state police spokesman told NJ.com that the brothers had approached a "low-rider" vehicle and asked if the driver could make the suspension bounce, but instead were chased through the parking lot by up to six men and beaten. By Tom Johnson, NJSpotlight.com The former Kearny garbage dump is a 66-acre plot of land, fallow for more than three decades, although practically within shouting distance of some of the most expensive real estate in the nation, with a bird’s eye view of the Manhattan skyline. Today, it may be emblematic of a new chapter in New Jersey’s development, as Public Service Electric & Gas and others yesterday dedicated a new 3-megawatt solar farm on 13 acres of the former landfill, producing enough electricity to power up to 500 homes. The $17.8 million solar farm project, a joint effort between PSE&G, the Hackensack Meadowlands Development Commission, and SunDurance Energy, an Edison-based solar developer, is the first solar project built on a …
