CareOne purchased the historic mansion's $3.9 million mortgage during an auction on Friday afternoon
The "jewel of Oradell" was officially sold to CareOne on Friday afternoon following an uncontested bid on the Blauvelt Mansion's $3.9 million mortgage in Hackensack. CareOne and its subsidiary Blauvelt Associates,bought the mortgages of the 116-year-old housewith an uncontested bid of $100, according to a report on nj.com. The auction came after months of postponements beginning with Hurricane Sandy's wrath, Bergen County Sheriff Michael Saudino pushed the sales to December 2013 to allow residents time to recover from the storm. During the delay, the $1.9 million mortgage was increased to approximately $3.7 million following a recent assessment of the 4-acre property. ORADELL -- The new year was initially expected to bring a resolution to the fate of the Blauvelt Mansion's mortgage sale, but fate it seems is as fickle as ever. The two mortgages were scheduled to be sold on Jan. 4 but have now been pushed back two months in the fourth postponement. According to the Bergen County Sheriff's Office Foreclosure Sale Listings, the $3.7 million and $735,000 mortgages have been delayed until March 22 by lien holders First Choice Bank and Valley National Bank. The historic mansion, built in 1896 for Kimball Chase Atwood and later sold to Hiram Blauvelt, was initially scheduled for a mortgage sale in early November 2012 for a $1.9 million mortgage before the inclusion of a smaller $700,000 mortgage was added. …

Latest incident was reported in Westwood as cases being investigated across Bergen County.
Police are searching for a man involved in a "potential luring incident" Thursday morning in Westwood, according to Police Captain Frank Durante. The incident took place on Lafayette Avenue at about 7:10 a.m. when the Westwood Jr./Sr. High School student was walking to school, Durante said. The man allegedly stopped and offered the girl a ride. She declined and reported the incident when she got to school. Police are searching for information about the man. He was described as being middle-aged and balding with a crew cut. He was driving a gray four-door hatchback with a NYPD sticker in the front left windshield. Actors and actresses from around the county have helped make this production magical, says Director Larry Landsman.
It's opening night for the Bergen County Players' production of Meredith Willson's Tony Award winning play "The Music Man." "It's a beautiful production," said Director Larry Landsman, of Wyckoff. "There is no bigger undertaking than bringing "The Music Man," an American classic, to the stage." Saturday night's production is the culmination of four months of hard work, hundreds of hours of technical effort and plenty of dedication, Landsman said. County officials and representatives from United Water hold meeting Monday to discuss the increase in repetitive flooding in towns along the Hackensack River.
NEW MILFORD - On the heels of Mayor Ann Subrizi's meeting with the DEP on Tuesday regarding repetitive flooding of homes and businesses along the Hackensack River that included officials from River Edge and Oradell, the county has arranged a meeting of the mayors and affected residents of flood prone towns, along with representatives from United Water, for Monday July 2 at 7 p.m. at One Bergen County Plaza in Hackensack. The Hackensack River flows into the Lake DeForest reservoir before flowing downstream into the Lake Tappan reservoir.
