Police: Drunk Driver Fled Route 4 Crash in Teaneck

Four people treated for minor injuries and 22-year-old woman charged after Route 4 crash late Sunday, according to county police.

A drunk driver turned herself in to county police hours after she fled the scene of an accident on Route 4 that left four people injured late Sunday, authorities said.  Police were called to the crash, near Queen Anne Road, around 11 p.m. and found a 2008 Honda Civic with heavy damage facing westbound in the eastbound lanes, according to Bergen County Police Lt. James Giblin. The second vehicle, a 2012 Chrysler minivan, was found nearby.  Two people in the minivan suffered minor injuries and were taken to Englewood hospital, while two passengers in the Honda were also treated for minor injuries at Holy Name Medical Center.  Witnesses told officers the Honda's driver fled on foot down Queen Anne Road, police said. Traffic Delayed After Route 4 Crash

Accident cleared, but delays continued Friday afternoon.

Traffic delays continued into rush hour Friday after an earlier crash on Route 4 westbound in Teaneck was cleared, according to the state transportation department.  Authorities initially blocked the right and center lanes of the highway, near Webster Avenue, the agency reported. Traffic delays were reported between Grand Avenue and Teaneck Road around 4:20 p.m.  There were no serious injuries in the wreck.

Man in Intensive Care After Being Struck on Route 4 in River Edge

Pedestrian was hit while crossing Route 4 late Wednesday; investigation still ongoing

RIVER EDGE - A 44-year-old Paramus man is in the intensive care unit at Hackensack University Medical Center after he was hit by a car Wednesday night while trying to cross Route 4 in River Edge, near the Paramus border.  According to River Edge Police Chief Thomas Cariddi, the incident occured around 9:12 p.m. Wednesday when the pedestrian attempted to cross Route 4 from the eastbound side to the westbound side. Upon reaching the westbound side, he was struck by a vehicle and hit the windshield before being thrown to the ground. "He was treated at the scene by members of the Paramus Ambulance Corps and advance life support paramedics from Hackensack University Medical Center," Cariddi said Thursday. Accident at Belle Avenue Causes Route 4 Delays

No serious injuries reported.

A two-car crash at the Route 4 westbound Belle Avenue exit brought traffic to a crawl Friday afternoon.  No one was seriously hurt, authorities said. Delays were reported in both directions as of around 1 p.m., according to the state Department of Transportation website.  Westbound traffic was slowed from Queen Anne Road through the area.  Police and the Teaneck Volunteer Ambulance Corps were called to the scene.
