Stove Left on Over Jewish Holiday Sends 13 to Hospitals

Brinkerhoff Avenue residents had symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Thirteen people were hospitalized Thursday morning with symptoms associated with carbon monoxide poisoning after a stove was left on for two days in a Brinkerhoff Avenue home, a fire official said. The group did not suffer any serious injuries, but some complained of nausea and headaches at the scene, according to Fire Department Battalion Chief Paul Browning. Two young children were among those treated.  The Teaneck Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded and transported the group to Holy Name Medical Center and Englewood Hospital and Medical Center. The call came in around 8 a.m. after a carbon monoxide alarm went off in the house and firefighters found elevated levels of the gas in the kitchen, Browning said.  The stove had been running …
