The following press release was submitted by the Teaneck Public Library: The Newark Museum Speakers Bureau is scheduled to visit the Teaneck Library to present a slide-lecture American Modern and Contemporary Art on Friday, February 15, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. as part of the Isabelle & Sol Hermalyn lecture series. American Modern and Contemporary Art takes the audience through the developments in American art of the last 100 years. The presentation starts at the beginning of the twentieth century, describing the influence of Alfred Stieglitz and the manner in which the 1913 Armory show introduced the American public to modern art and inspired American artists to carve a new independent identity. The following announcement was submitted by the Teaneck Public Library: Phil and Jean Jaeger will give a PowerPoint presentation called “Dining With History” at the Teaneck Public Library on Friday, January 25, 2013 at 10:30 A.M., as part of the Isabelle & Sol Hermalyn Lecture Series. The program focuses on many restaurants, mostly in New Jersey, but several in neighboring states, that began life as long ago as the 1700s. In every case the building itself is an important part of New Jersey’s heritage whether it originally was a stagecoach stop, railroad station, school, castle, private residence or other historic structure. General sale starts June 23.
The following information was provided by the Teaneck Public Library: Friends of the Teaneck Public Library 2012 Book Sale Book Collection will be held between Monday, June 11 and Sunday, June 17. Gently used books, CDs, DVDs will be accepted. Collection closes at 7:30 on weeknights and earlier on Saturday and Sunday. As members of the Friends, you're invited to shop early at our Book Sale. Members-only hours will be held Thursday, June 21, 6:00 - 8:30 PM, and Friday, June 22, 9:00 AM to noon. You can join Friend’s membership at the door. Award-winning mystery writer set to discuss latest book, The Girl Next Door, in Teaneck.
The following item was submitted by the Teaneck Public Library: For Brad Parks, the event that inspired his latest novel, The Girl Next Door, was memorable as more than just the start of a literary endeavor. It was also the day he realized he had reached the end of his newspaper career. “We had all been summoned down from the newsroom to the classified area”, said Parks, then a reporter with The Star-Ledger, now an award-winning mystery author. “There, the publisher told us the paper was on life-support and would be closed down unless certain conditions were met. Exhibit runs through March
The following is a release from the school district: During the month of March, tenth and eleventh grade students from Teaneck High School will have their artwork on display in the gallery of the Teaneck Public Library. The exhibit features works from class investigations of nature, which emphasize the use of layering colors with pastels and the use of transparency of watercolor as a light source. The exhibit features landscapes, seascapes and animals. The participating students are: Mulenga Hibbert, Abraham Navaro, Corrine Hendricks, Denise Castillo, Stephanie Abatayo, and Stephanie Rubock. In addition to the artwork, yearbook pictures from Teaneck High graduates that have achieved success in their chosen careers will be on display. …

Book drive goes through Dec. 11.
The following release was submitted by the Teaneck Public Library: The Teaneck Public Library is holding its annual “Books for Kids” book donation drive Nov. 1 through Dec. 11. Annually, libraries throughout New Jersey participate in this very important program. Last year thousands of children with limited access to books were given a chance to own a book of their very own. Give a child the gift of reading by bringing a new book or books to the library’s collection box. New books for children from infants through teens are needed.

The Teaneck Public Library will be closed Friday for construction work, library officials said by email. The program "Claude and Camille: A Novel of Monet" has also been canceled for Friday, Oct. 14. No additional details were provided.
