Cory Booker was on hand to present awards at the Man-O-Manischewitz Live Cook-Off
Faux Pho took the prize in the 2013 Man-O-Manischewitz Live Cook-Off. The recipe's creator Josie Shapiro of San Francisco competed against four other finalists to win. Yitzi Taber, a senior at Teaneck's Torah Academy of Bergen County, represented New Jersey. Newark Mayor Cory Booker declared Thursday Manischewitz Day in Newark. In return, the company's president annouced that, after Thursday's successful Man-O-Manischewitz Live Cook-Off, held for the first time in New Jersey, next year's event will again be held at the Newark headquarters. Celebrity chef and cookbook author Jamie Geller, known as the "Queen of Kosher," led a panel of judges who awarded first prize, including $25,000 of Maytag kitchen appliances and cash, to winner …

The following news release was submitted by Torah Academy of Bergen County: Amid the threat of rain, over 60 Torah Academy of Bergen County (TABC) students gathered throughout the day on Sunday, April 1st, to raise money for Tomchei Shabbos, a kosher food pantry for families in the Bergen County area unable to afford regular Shabbat and holiday meals. This annual event, run at TABC, has raised money for several organizations such as Tomchei Shabbos and Project Ezra, which are dedicated to helping those in need. Upon arrival at TABC, students wash the cars, and the driver then pulls up to have his car vacuum cleaned, removing all the chametz or leavened products including cereal, candy and more, for Passover. Jeffrey Berger seeks pledges for OneFamily Fund, a nonprofit that supports terror victims in Israel
At a time when recent high school graduates may be sweating over finding a summer job, 17-year-old Jeffrey Berger is perspiring for a whole different reason. The Teaneck teen is swimming, biking and running constantly in preparation for the Aug. 7 Nautica New York City Triathlon. Berger, who recently graduated from Torah Academy of Bergen County (TABC), said he and his friend Binyamin Muller, who’s also 17, are the youngest competitors in the race – a detail verified by triathlon event organizer John Korff. The “Olympic-distance race” consists of a 1,500-meter swim, 40-kilometer bike ride and 10-kilomter run, and each year the event draws more than 3,000 athletes, according to the event’s website.
