Other department do not respond to all calls within teaneck. You are stretching mutual aid to fit into what you want it to, not what it really is.

And my attitude is not 70 this and 70 that, for me 70 is an acceptable amount (even though it is realistically less if you utilize the actual costs not your inflated ones) to pay for a public safety agency. My families auto insurance for the month costs more than a paid FD costs us. And frankly 70 a month is a minor concern considering we pay about 1000 monthly towards taxes.

Why not get angry about the Abbot funding system, the exorbitant amount of tax exempt "religious" institutions in this town or the fact the our council would rather spend time creating a whole circus around 70 per month than actually address the issues of the lack of new and sustanable ratables in this town. How anyone can buy into this pony show is beyond me. It's the same smoke and mirrors every couple of years, pay no attention to the fact I have done nothing while in office but instead sharpen your pitchforks for the FD, PD and what I assume will be the next to follow suit teachers.

The fd salaries are just over 9 million for the year and unless you are attributing 50% of the total township employee costs for health insurance payments I'm unaware how it is you are getting to your 12 million dollars.

For arguments sake I'll us your inflated 12mil figures it still only figures to be approx 71.25 per month per household. Seems like a fairly reasonable amount to have 24/7/365 protection as well as a back up for when TVAC are unable to make it to a call. If you were to use that actual numbers from the budget and the census the monthly costs are closer to the $50 a month price tag I originally stated.

Oh I didn't realize you had put structure fire in your response. Did you type it with inviable ink?

The fd respondes to well over a thousand calls per year. Is every one a fire that causes major structural damage? Obviously not in fact many my be false alarms or minor in nature(perhaps kept that way due to fast response times) but your made up mathematics is simply that, made up to suit your already formed opinion.

Truth is that the FD and PD are quick to respond when TVAC is unable to respond to a call, help with flooding during historic storms or any of the countless other calls per year. You are also mistaken in your assumption that off duty PD and FD are not required to respond in an emergency if they are not on shift, they are.

Apparently your common knowledge isn't really that full of knowledge.

It's covered for almost anyone who has health coverage including those under the Medicaid system. This isn't an out of the ordinary concession made because he is governor

Please provide some sources for your two years without seeing a fire opinion. Even a volunteer town will see fires more often than every two years. Car fires alone along rt4 or 95 eclipse your stats

I hope your day job doesn't consist of utilizing your psychic abilities.

My opinions of the school system here in town are not really positive ones. Considering the school system has absolutely zero to do with public safety nor is it even remotely on the same playing field financially as the public safety departments, I'm at a loss as to how you are capable of lumping it all into your spoon fed opinion on the public safety matter.

Take the time and do your own math prior to forming an opinion. You are incorrect in you assumptions on the costs. The averages don't lie, some may pay a bit more some may pay a bit less depending on their homes assessed values but the overall averages are not nearly as high nor will their be a saving seen in your tax burden as Guessen and his cronies would like you to believe.

I do have issues with taxes and my pockets are not bottomless. I am also capable of forming my opinions based upon facts and not those of political rhetoric. The safety of my family home and neighbors is something I am comfortable with paying for. I liken it to auto insurance, I hope I may never need it but I am more than happy to shell out for it in case I ever do.

You should be more angry with your tax dollars that are bleeding out of your community for the benefit of other communities or the unbelievably high volume of tax exempt residences within our community. Perhaps the burden wouldn't be so burdensome if it were fairly evenly shared.

Guesses does the half -behind posturing when it suits him. The truth is the fire department costs the average household less than $50 per month. The police a bit more than that.

Though public safety volunteerism may seem the norm around here I had never experienced it in the other states i had the pleasure of residing in prior to NJ. I'm fine with my tax monies being spent in a public safety capacity. I was well aware prior to purchasing my home of the paid fd as well as the size of the police force, it frankly was a selling point for me. If I wanted a volunteer town I would have chosen one of the other townships in Bergen County to put down roots in.
