Bob Sullivan, a CSX spokesman, said the train was bound for Newark from Louisville, Ky. It was carrying 89 freight cars and has two locomotives. Two CSX crew members on board were not injured, he added.

The railroad company was cooperating with police, Sullivan said. He referred questions about the investigation to local authorities.

Police did not immediately release additional information.
